Art Statement of Purpose
My works relate to the emotional effects of contradictions experienced through realizing the ironies existing in the gap between the expectations towards the world and the actual reality. The ironies that I’ve experienced are expressed in ways that hinder the two different images, for they are entangled in two different images that substitute the reality and the ideal. It reflects my psychological states that are emotionally conflicting in between two different situations, as these contradicting images are merged into a single image.
My works deal with human figures to the process of merging the images that are associated through two or more means. First is the imaging of actual existence of the matters that remain in my experience and memories by personally becoming the principal agent of the figure. For instance, they include parts of the body, pieces of the flesh, animal furs, textures of those everyday objects remembered in the memories and et cetera. The second one would be the expressions of abstract images that I’ve personally seen and felt through the eyes of a third person while dealing with entire or portions of various figures. When the work forgoes the process of spilling or spraying and scratching the paints through a happening of coincidence to create an image that excludes intentions, it then goes through the process of mixture and separation in which unique colors and characteristics of various paints are sophisticatedly mixed and separated within the flow of time. The images in organic forms that are exposed as it is confront the matters in the actual reality.
In order to create a balance with these two images, the actual reality and emotions, I have made a full use of the drawing technique. In its context, this drawing connects the subjects that are in contradictions and further creates spaces in a whole new dimension that did not previously exist. Therefore, it adds the formative tensions and the pleassure to the work. The self or I, who had existed in the form of a human being, is eliminated and the world seen through my eyes emerges during the course when the drawings are being added.
Likewise, I am able to create new images through such series of progressions and again find out the realities of the world that I belong to. The images that are created through emotional effects of contradictions guide me back to the reality once again and therefore ceaselessly remind me and imprint of the fact that I exist.
